About Me

Philosophy and Approach

Adam Greenleaf, formerly Adam Garen, empowers individuals to lead purposeful lives marked by freedom, generosity, fulfillment, and joy.

Where some financial advisors may employ a “one-size-fits-all” approach, Adam prefers customization over “cookie cutter.” He evaluates situations and opportunities from multiple perspectives and fosters close relationships characterized by care, curiosity, and thoughtful consideration. This deep, mutual understanding contributes to alignment around every component of a strategy.

Career Background

In 2025, Adam joined Stifel after seven years at RBC Wealth Management’s U.S. headquarters in Minneapolis. He is enthusiastic about integrating his unique approach with Stifel’s deep commitment to excellence and working to exceed client expectations.

Coaching and Debate Experience

Adam draws heavily on his background as a competitive college debate coach, having coached policy debate (NDT/CEDA) at Dartmouth College, University of California, Berkeley, and Cornell University. His team consistently ranked in the top five nationally, and in 2013, earned the #1 worldwide ranking from the International Debate Education Association.

Consulting Experience

Before becoming a financial advisor, Adam provided growth consulting to business owners and executives across industries such as Information Technology, Mobile App Development, and Real Estate. He now applies this experience to help clients connect their business interests with broader life goals.

Education and Credentials

Adam attended Dartmouth College on a National Merit Scholarship, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature. He was a top competitor on Dartmouth’s policy debate team, reaching the “Sweet 16” of the National Debate Tournament three times and appearing in the “Final Four.” In addition, he holds FINRA 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses.

What’s In a Name?

Adam recently changed his name from Adam Garen to Adam Greenleaf, a reflection of growth, resilience, and vitality. The name honors an ancestral family name nearly lost to history and has sparked meaningful conversations.

Community Involvement

Adam is deeply committed to community service and leadership:
  • Minnesota Urban Debate League (MNUDL) – advisory board member & fundraising chair (since 2019)
  • Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) – National Young Leadership Cabinet (since 2025)
  • Mount Zion Synagogue (St. Paul) – member and former board member/vice president (2018 to 2025)
  • Beth El Synagogue (St. Louis Park) – member
  • St. Paul Jewish Federation – Life & Legacy Campaign Chair (2024 to 2025)
  • Maayanot Community Mikveh of Minnesota – founding board member and active committee member (since 2024)
  • Minnesota Keystone Committee – former member promoting corporate philanthropy
  • The Blake School Alumni Board – former president and fundraising chair (2018 to 2023)

Personal

Born and raised in Southwest Minneapolis, Adam enjoys the area’s natural beauty – especially Lake Harriet, Minnehaha Creek, and the Mississippi River, where he often bikes the terrain’s trails. He is a lifelong reader with growing interests in barre fitness and ceramics.
